Written by herdwatch | 07-Jan-2016 20:08:53

In this episode of the popular farming series Grassroots, which aired recently on Irish TV (Sky 191), presenter Alan Brereton meets MJ Clery, an Offaly Beef Farmer who is embracing new technologies to improve efficiencies on his farm, and he shows Alan how quickly a calf can be registered on the Herdwatch farming app (about 3 minutes into the programme).

He also pays a visit to the Herdwatch & FRS Farm Relief Services HQ in Roscrea, and takes a trip to the Department of Agriculture in order to find out more about traceability in farming. It’s then on to the award-winning butcher Nolan’s of Kilcullen, where Alan chats to the owner about food provenance and the importance of traceability. Finally, Alan visits The Hanged Man restaurant to chat to the head chef about the importance of quality Irish meats to their business.
